Executive Director

About the role

Chikukwa Ecological Land Use Organisation (CELUO) is seeking an Executive Director to lead its community‑rooted programmes in agroecology, peacebuilding, child protection and sustainable development across Chimanimani and Chipinge. This senior leadership position will guide the organisation’s strategic direction and ensure impact‑driven outcomes for the local communities.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement a strategic plan that aligns with CELUO’s mission and the needs of the Eastern Highlands.
• Oversee all programme areas – agroecology, peacebuilding, child protection and sustainable development – ensuring quality delivery and measurable results.
• Manage and mentor a multidisciplinary team, fostering a collaborative and accountable work environment.
• Lead fundraising, grant writing and donor relations to secure sustainable financing.
• Represent CELUO with government bodies, NGOs, community groups and international partners.
• Ensure compliance with legal, financial and reporting requirements.

Required profile

• Proven senior leadership experience in the non‑profit or development sector.
• Strong strategic, organisational and people‑management capabilities.
• Demonstrated commitment to community‑centred development and the values of agroecology, peacebuilding and child protection.
• Ability to work effectively in the Zimbabwean context and navigate local stakeholder dynamics.
