Deputy Country Technical Lead (Harare, Zimbabwe)

About the role

The Deputy Country Technical Lead will provide strategic technical leadership for PSI Zimbabwe’s health portfolio, ensuring programs are evidence‑based, aligned with national priorities and PSI’s global standards. This senior position supports the introduction, evaluation and scale‑up of innovative HIV, STI, SRH and diagnostic technologies.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the introduction, adaptation and scale‑up of innovative HIV prevention products, diagnostics and SRH technologies.
• Collaborate with PSI Global and regional teams to identify emerging innovations for Zimbabwe.
• Assess health‑system, policy, market and implementation readiness and support integration of new interventions.
• Provide high‑level technical assistance to the Ministry of Health, implementing partners and private‑sector stakeholders.
• Develop and adapt technical strategies, guidance, tools and quality standards.
• Facilitate technical learning, cross‑country exchange and represent PSI Zimbabwe in national, regional and global forums.
• Lead policy dialogue and translate emerging evidence into national policies and guidelines.
• Oversee implementation science, operational research, evaluations and evidence‑generation activities.
• Mentor research and technical teams and strengthen organizational capacity for evidence use.
• Disseminate evidence through policy briefs, technical reports, scientific manuscripts and conferences.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in public‑health program design, implementation and scale‑up, preferably in HIV/STI, SRH or diagnostics.
• Proven ability to work with ministries of health, donors, regulatory bodies and private‑sector partners.
• Strong track record in leading implementation science, operational research and evidence‑generation projects.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder‑engagement skills.
