Registered General Nurse

About the role

Midlands State University is seeking a qualified Registered General Nurse to join its health services team. The role involves providing comprehensive nursing care to students, staff, and visitors, supporting the university’s commitment to health and wellbeing.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct patient consultations, examinations, and assist with diagnoses in collaboration with university doctors.
• Dispense medicines, provide patient counselling, and maintain accurate medication records.
• Compile health statistics and respond to emergencies promptly.
• Implement and monitor infection prevention and control measures.
• Deliver holistic nursing care addressing physical, psychological, and social needs.
• Maintain confidential and detailed patient records.
• Coordinate referrals and ensure patients access required services.
• Provide health and emergency support at university events such as student trips and sports activities.
• Perform any additional clinical or nursing duties as assigned.

Required profile

• Registered General Nurse with a Diploma or Degree in General Nursing.
• At least 5 Ordinary Level passes, including English Language.
• Registered with the Nurses Council of Zimbabwe and holding a valid practising certificate.
• Minimum of 2 years’ experience as a Registered General Nurse.
• Post‑basic qualification in Midwifery or Psychiatry is an advantage.
• Forensic training for dispensing medicines is a plus.
