Programme Coordinator – THRIVE Zimbabwe

About the role

The Programme Coordinator will be based in Harare and will lead the day‑to‑day coordination and operational management of the THRIVE Zimbabwe programme. Working closely with COLEAD teams in Harare, Nairobi, Brussels and Lomé, as well as national stakeholders, the role ensures effective planning, implementation, monitoring and delivery of activities that strengthen Zimbabwe’s horticultural sector for export markets.

Key responsibilities

• Lead daily coordination and operational follow‑up of programme implementation, ensuring activities are planned, delivered and monitored.
• Prepare, implement, monitor and report on annual work plans, milestones, indicators, risks and deliverables.
• Provide strategic oversight, anticipate risks and propose practical solutions.
• Coordinate inputs from technical teams, consultants, experts and partners for high‑quality delivery.
• Supervise development projects for partner beneficiaries across the horticultural sector.
• Maintain strong relationships with government institutions, private sector organisations, producer groups and development partners.
• Represent COLEAD at technical, institutional and policy meetings, workshops and sector events.
• Collaborate with the EU Delegation, ministries, sector associations and complementary programmes to maximise impact.
• Support programme monitoring, reporting, expenditure verification and implementation of recommendations.
• Contribute to communication, visibility and knowledge‑sharing activities following EU guidelines.

Required profile

• University degree in agronomy, agricultural sciences, environmental sciences, economics, management, project management or a related field.
• Minimum 10 years of relevant professional experience in programme or project coordination within the agricultural or development sector.
