Nurse In Charge – Clinical Administration

About the role

Midlands State University is seeking a qualified Nurse In Charge to lead the clinical operations of its resident health facility. The role combines hands‑on patient care with administrative oversight to ensure high‑quality, safe services.

Key responsibilities

• Manage day‑to‑day clinical activities and ensure compliance with best practice and infection‑prevention protocols.
• Develop, monitor and operationalise staff duty rosters, trip allocations and departmental SOPs.
• Supervise nursing staff, monitor punctuality and performance, and conduct regular clinical meetings to review cases.
• Participate directly in patient care and treatment when required.
• Coordinate follow‑up for referred clients and maintain continuous support.
• Lead awareness campaigns to promote service uptake.
• Compile and submit statistical reports to the Ministry of Health, City Health, and NAC.

Required profile

• Registered General Nurse with a Diploma or Degree in General Nursing.
• Valid practicing certificate from the Nurses Council of Zimbabwe.
• At least 2 years of experience in nursing administration.
• Post‑basic qualification or forensic training is an advantage.
