Finance Director

About the role

Bata Zimbabwe, part of the Bata Shoe Organisation, is looking for a Finance Director following an internal promotion. The role is fully accountable for all financial, legal and IT operations of the company, including financial results and reporting, performance metrics, control systems, compliance and cost efficiency. It is a hands-on, high-impact position in a competitive market.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement financial policies, controls and reporting structures, aligned with regional and global objectives.
• Monitor and optimise working capital, budgets and profitability.
• Ensure timely, accurate financial reporting, regulatory compliance and internal controls.
• Manage liquid resources, prepare cash forecasts, negotiate financial agreements and review credit policies, corporate financing and taxation matters.
• Lead and mentor a team, foster continuous improvement and collaborate with stakeholders to support business growth.
• Report on the company's financial and accounting functions, work with senior management on policy execution and ensure Management Information Reports meet BSO requirements.

Required profile

• Senior finance leadership experience in a manufacturing environment, ideally in Africa or another emerging market.
• Professional qualification essential (CA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent); an MBA is an added advantage.
• Proven ability to implement financial strategies, improve efficiencies and drive profitability.
• Experience in compliance, tax planning, treasury and financial risk management.
• Strong commercial acumen, leadership, stakeholder management and communication skills.
