Finance & Accounting Intern

About the role

Join the Finance Department at Hyatt Regency Harare as a Finance & Accounting Intern. You will support daily accounting operations, gain hands‑on experience with accounts payable, cashbook management, and general ledger activities, and develop a solid foundation in financial reporting.

Key responsibilities

• Process supplier invoices accurately in the Accounts Payable module, match them with purchase orders, and obtain proper authorisation.
• Prepare and initiate supplier payments following approved procedures and reconcile supplier statements.
• Capture and maintain cashbook transactions for bank accounts and petty cash, process receipts and payments, and assist with bank reconciliations.
• Post journal entries, maintain general ledger records, and help prepare monthly account reconciliations.
• Support month‑end and year‑end closing activities and ensure compliance with company policies and accounting standards.
• Maintain proper filing of accounting records, assist in preparing financial reports, and provide information for internal and external audits.

Required profile

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or a related field.
• Strong accuracy, attention to detail, and ability to manage time effectively.
• High level of integrity, professionalism, and ability to maintain confidentiality.
• Motivation to learn and develop accounting knowledge while working independently and as part of a team.

Required skills

• Microsoft Excel (formulas, pivot tables, data analysis)
• Familiarity with accounting software such as SAP, QuickBooks or Sage (advantageous)
