Excel Specialist – Advanced Data & Automation

About the role

We are seeking an Excel Specialist to serve as the backbone of our data operations, turning raw numbers into actionable business intelligence. Working remotely across Africa, you will collaborate with finance, marketing, and operations teams to build advanced spreadsheet tools, automated dashboards, and interactive templates.

Key responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain highly complex, scalable Excel spreadsheets, pivot tables, and interactive dashboards.
• Write and maintain VBA scripts and macros to automate repetitive data entry, extraction, and report generation.
• Clean, validate, and merge large datasets from multiple sources using Power Query and advanced lookup formulas.
• Build dynamic forecasting, budgeting, and performance‑tracking models to support senior‑management decisions.
• Audit and troubleshoot existing Excel files to detect and resolve formula errors and data‑mapping issues.
• Translate technical data insights into clear visual formats and train cross‑functional remote teams on reporting templates.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Computer Science or a related field.
• 3–5 years of professional experience focused on data analysis, spreadsheet management, or financial modeling.
• Proven ability to work independently in a remote environment and collaborate across African time zones.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Required skills

• Advanced Microsoft Excel (advanced formulas, XLOOKUP, INDEX/MATCH, Pivot Tables, Power Pivot, Power Query).
• VBA programming and macro development.
• Familiarity with Power BI.
• Knowledge of SQL databases and data‑visualisation principles.
