Claims Manager – Lead Claims Function

About the role

We are looking for a founding Claims Manager to establish and lead the claims function of a digital non‑life insurer based in Harare. The role covers the full claims lifecycle for motor, fire, engineering, personal accident and life lines, blending office responsibilities with occasional field visits to accident sites.

Key responsibilities

• Design and manage claims workflows, ensuring turnaround targets are achieved.
• Oversee case reserving, subrogation recoveries and salvage processes.
• Lead fraud detection, forensic investigations and industry fraud reporting.
• Handle customer complaints in line with Treating Customers Fairly principles.
• Provide claims data and loss‑ratio insights to the Underwriting Manager.
• Recruit and develop the claims team as the function expands.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Insurance, Risk Management, Law or a related discipline.
• Professional qualification such as IIZ, ACII, AIISA or equivalent.
• 5–7 years of progressive short‑term insurance experience, including 2–3 years in a senior claims or technical role.
• Strong knowledge of the Insurance Act and Motor Vehicles Insurance (Third Party Risks) Act.
• Experience working with a core insurance system.
• Valid Zimbabwean driver’s licence.
