Business Development Manager – Drive Growth Across Units

About the role

Old Mutual is seeking a Business Development Manager to lead strategic growth initiatives across all business units. The role will manage the opportunity pipeline, craft compelling value propositions, and negotiate high‑impact partnerships to expand market presence.

Key responsibilities

• Identify, qualify, and prioritize high‑potential opportunities across all business units.
• Develop, manage, and optimise the Group’s business development pipeline from origination to conversion.
• Act as the central liaison for complex, multi‑unit opportunities, ensuring alignment and resource allocation.
• Design customer value propositions and innovative business models aligned with market needs.
• Prepare data‑driven business cases, secure internal approvals, and drive market entry strategies.
• Lead negotiations with partners to achieve optimal commercial outcomes.
• Identify synergies across units and integrate new opportunities into existing ecosystems.
• Ensure marketing, distribution, and communication strategies align with Group objectives.
• Define service levels, manage partner relationships, and monitor performance against standards.
• Establish governance frameworks, financial controls, and reporting mechanisms.

Required profile

• Proven experience in business development or commercial strategy within a multi‑unit organisation.
• Strong analytical ability to build robust business cases and assess market opportunities.
• Excellent negotiation and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to work cross‑functionally and drive alignment among diverse teams.
