Business Analyst

About the role

Old Mutual is looking for a Business Analyst to join its team and help shape the future of African financial services. You will work closely with business stakeholders, product owners, and technology teams to capture requirements, design solutions, and ensure successful delivery.

Key responsibilities

• Facilitate discovery workshops and define user journeys to understand business needs.
• Create, groom, and prioritize user stories, linking them to epics in the tracking tool.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams (product, UX, technology, testing) to translate functional needs into actionable requirements.
• Lead iteration ceremonies, including backlog grooming, sprint planning, daily stand‑ups, reviews, and retrospectives.
• Support the Product Owner with prioritisation, estimation, and stakeholder communication.
• Conduct business process analysis, identify improvement opportunities, and contribute to new process designs.
• Own system testing, user acceptance testing, and implementation of changes or new applications.

Required profile

• Strong analytical mindset with the ability to translate business problems into clear requirements.
• Excellent communication and facilitation skills for workshops and stakeholder meetings.
• Experience working in agile environments and managing product backlogs.
• Ability to work independently and take ownership of deliverables.

Required skills

• Business analysis techniques (user stories, use cases, process mapping).
• Agile methodologies (Scrum/Kanban).
• Requirement management tools (e.g., JIRA, Azure DevOps) – mentioned as a "Defined tool".
• User acceptance testing and basic knowledge of system implementation.
