Accounting Assistant (Multiple Positions – Gweru & Kwekwe)

About the role

Midlands State University is seeking qualified Accounting Assistants to support the finance functions at its Gweru and Kwekwe campuses. The role involves providing clerical and accounting support to ensure accurate financial record‑keeping and timely processing of transactions.

Key responsibilities

• Enter financial data accurately into the university’s accounting system.
• Prepare and maintain accounting documents, bank deposits, and general ledger postings.
• Perform bank, ledger, and supplier reconciliations.
• Generate statements and assist with month‑end closing activities.
• Research and resolve discrepancies in accounting records.

Required profile

• Diploma or Degree in Accounting or Finance.
• At least one year of industrial attachment experience in a university setting.
• Minimum two years of post‑qualification work experience.
• Knowledge of accounting software such as Pastel or Sage Evolution.

• Pastel accounting software.
