Space Applications Expert, Earth Observation & Copernicus

About the role

We are looking for a highly qualified Space Applications Expert to support the development, deployment and uptake of Earth Observation (EO) services and applications for the Africa‑EU Space Partnership Programme. The role focuses on solutions based on Copernicus data that address development, climate and environmental priorities across Africa.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and deliver EO services and applications using Copernicus products in sectors such as early‑warning, climate monitoring, agriculture, water management and biodiversity.
• Facilitate knowledge exchange and capacity building with African institutions and stakeholders.
• Contribute to policy dialogue, institutional partnerships and private‑sector engagement to promote EO uptake.
• Support the preparation and implementation of project proposals within the AESPP Boost programme.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in geomatics, remote sensing, environmental science, meteorology, engineering or a related field.
• Excellent command of English; working knowledge of French or Portuguese is an asset.
• Minimum 8 years of professional experience in EO, geospatial services, remote sensing or climate/environmental services.
• At least 4 years of experience designing or delivering EO services using Copernicus data.
• Experience working with African institutions or user communities is a plus.
