Site Power Engineer

About the role

Huawei Zimbabwe is seeking a Site Power Engineer to lead onsite and remote delivery of optical network projects. The role involves maintaining network performance, troubleshooting issues, and supporting professional service deliveries.

Key responsibilities

• Act as TE/TL/TD for onsite project delivery of transmission engineers and maintain optical network products.
• Support project delivery as an engineer, handling various technical problems.
• Perform network maintenance, fault location, troubleshooting, and optimization of optical network products.
• Conduct remote delivery of transmission engineers, including network evaluation, optimization, planning, design, and reporting to customers.
• Support the delivery of professional service projects.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or higher.
• Strong knowledge of SDH, WDM, PTN, ASON and related technologies (e.g., 1588V2, MSTP dual‑plane).
• In‑depth understanding of optical transmission fundamentals such as fiber, OSNR, dispersion and PMD.
• Ability to independently deliver optical network projects, including hardware supervision, software commissioning and acceptance testing.
• Experience with engineering and maintenance of long‑distance backbone WDM networks (40G/100G) and network evaluation, optimization and design.
