Senior Graphic Designer

About the role

Midlands State University is seeking a Senior Graphic Designer to lead the visual communication of its academic and administrative units. You will shape the university’s brand across print and digital media while mentoring a small creative team.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee design projects from concept to delivery, including annual reports, strategic plans, proposals, budgets, and branding assets.
• Create original illustrations, infographics, and visual concepts for high‑profile university initiatives.
• Supervise and coach interns, assign tasks, and ensure timely project completion.
• Review junior designers’ work to maintain quality and brand consistency.
• Define art direction and format design deliverables for both print and digital channels.
• Design main visual elements for the university brand, such as identity systems and billboards.
• Manage production of all print pieces from conception through final output.
• Stay current with industry trends and tools that enhance graphic design output.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Media, Multimedia, or Graphic Design (Master’s in Visual Arts/Media is a plus).
• Minimum 5 years of professional graphic design experience in an in‑house creative department.
• Proven track record in both digital and print design for institutional branding.
• Strong creative, organisational, problem‑solving and time‑management abilities.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite: Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Premiere Pro, After Effects.
• Strong understanding of typography, colour theory, and layout design.
• Experience with video editing and motion‑graphics software (preferred).
