Research Coordinator – Harare, Zimbabwe

About the role

The Research Coordinator will lead the day‑to‑day implementation of research projects in Harare, ensuring alignment with approved protocols, timelines, and budgets. This role bridges scientific rigor with operational efficiency, supporting high‑quality data collection and participant engagement.

Key responsibilities

• Translate study protocols into SOPs, manuals, and operational workflows.
• Maintain workplans, trackers, meeting records, and essential documentation.
• Coordinate study start‑up, site readiness, recruitment, retention, and participant follow‑up.
• Ensure compliance with ICH‑GCP, ethics approvals, and national regulations.
• Manage ethics and regulatory submissions, amendments, and informed‑consent documentation.
• Oversee monitoring visits, audits, and inspections while safeguarding participant safety and data integrity.
• Coordinate data collection processes, maintain data tools, validation rules, and data dictionaries.
• Develop, test, and support electronic data collection systems such as REDCap and Kobo Toolbox.
• Conduct data‑quality checks, resolve queries, and assist with dataset cleaning.
• Provide guidance and mentorship to research assistants, nurses, and data staff.
• Prepare progress, data‑quality, funder, ethics, regulatory, and project reports.
• Support budgeting, procurement, and resource planning.

Required profile

• Master’s degree (required).
• Relevant background in public health, epidemiology, monitoring & evaluation, health informatics, biostatistics, data science, social science, or related field (advantageous).
• 2–3 years of experience in research coordination, data management, or related roles.

Required skills

• Proficiency with REDCap.
• Experience using Kobo Toolbox.
