QHSE Manager – ESG & Sustainability

About the role

The QHSE Manager will lead the implementation and continuous improvement of Quality, Health, Safety, Environment (QHSE) and ESG systems for BCS Group’s operations in Zimbabwe. Reporting to the Group Head ESG and Sustainability, the role ensures compliance with the company’s Environmental and Social Management System (ESMS), national legislation and international standards such as ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001.

Key responsibilities

• Provide technical guidance on QHSE matters across Zimbabwe operations and promote a strong QHSE culture.
• Develop, implement and maintain QHSE policies, procedures, plans and ESMS documentation.
• Conduct risk assessments, safety analyses, environmental monitoring and maintain emergency preparedness plans.
• Plan and execute QHSE audits, inspections and compliance monitoring; lead incident reporting, investigations and root‑cause analysis.
• Liaise with regulatory authorities and ensure timely compliance reporting.
• Deliver QHSE training for employees and contractors, identify competency gaps and monitor supplier/contractor performance.
• Support sustainability initiatives, waste reduction, environmental protection and social responsibility programs.
• Contribute to Group ESG reporting, audits, due‑diligence exercises and continuous improvement.

Required profile

• Proven experience in QHSE management within an industrial or infrastructure environment.
• Strong knowledge of ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 standards.
• Familiarity with ESG reporting frameworks and environmental legislation in Zimbabwe.
• Demonstrated ability to lead audits, risk assessments and incident investigations.
• Excellent communication skills to influence stakeholders and drive a safety culture.
