Orthopaedic Nurse

About the role

The Orthopaedic Nurse at Utano Africa provides specialised nursing care for patients with musculoskeletal conditions. Based in Harare, this full‑time, on‑site role supports patients before and after orthopaedic surgeries, ensuring safe recovery and optimal outcomes.

Key responsibilities

• Assess patients with orthopaedic conditions and monitor vital signs.
• Manage pain, administer medications, and support wound and cast care.
• Assist with patient mobilisation, rehabilitation exercises and post‑operative care.
• Collaborate with orthopaedic surgeons, physicians, physiotherapists and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement care plans.
• Educate patients and families on treatment plans, recovery processes and self‑care.
• Maintain accurate clinical documentation and follow infection‑prevention and safety protocols.

Required profile

• Valid nursing registration with the relevant regulatory body and authorization to practice in Zimbabwe.
• Strong foundation in medicine and orthopaedics to understand musculoskeletal conditions and treatment pathways.
• Prior experience in an orthopaedic, surgical or acute‑care setting is highly beneficial.
• Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team and communicate clearly.
• Attention to detail, adherence to clinical protocols and commitment to patient safety.
