Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) Analyst

About the role

The Monitoring and Evaluation Analyst will support UNFPA Zimbabwe in developing, implementing and reviewing the monitoring and evaluation framework for the Country Programme. Working closely with programme and technical staff, the analyst ensures results‑based indicators are used, data are collected and analysed, and findings are translated into programme improvements.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain the overall M&E plan, including quarterly benchmarks and annual targets.
• Guide annual planning and reporting processes, ensuring baselines, targets and milestones reflect programme progress.
• Provide guidance on Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (MEL) concepts, design, training and best practices to programme and operations teams.
• Lead M&E activities for the Country Programme, including target setting, data collection tools, and end‑year reporting.
• Strengthen capacity of UNFPA staff and implementing partners through training on results‑based management and data quality assurance.
• Support programme evaluation phases, from terms of reference development to dissemination of findings and follow‑up actions.

Required profile

• Experience analysing political, social and economic trends to inform programme management.
• Ability to apply evaluation research to monitor programme implementation and translate results into policy and programme improvements.
• Proven experience working with UN or development partners on results‑based management and monitoring frameworks.
• Strong collaborative skills to maintain relationships with government, CSOs and other stakeholders.
