Gym Supervisor – University Gymnasium

About the role

The Gym Supervisor will manage the day‑to‑day operations of the Midlands State University gymnasium at the Gweru campus. This role ensures a safe, well‑maintained environment for students, staff and external clients while supporting the university’s sports and recreation programmes.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee daily gym operations and supervise gym attendants.
• Ensure all fitness equipment is safe, functional and properly maintained.
• Conduct routine inspections, report faults and coordinate maintenance.
• Develop and deliver fitness and wellness programmes for the university community.
• Provide orientation and guidance on safe equipment use.
• Monitor compliance with gym rules, health and safety regulations and university policies.
• Maintain cleanliness, hygiene and orderliness of the facilities.
• Track membership records, attendance and equipment usage, and prepare operational reports.

Required profile

• Degree in Sports Science, Physical Education, Sports Management or a related field.
• Proven experience working in a university or tertiary institution’s fitness centre.
