Managing Director – Insurance

About the role

The Managing Director will lead Old Mutual Insurance Company’s insurance function, setting strategic direction across underwriting, claims, product development, risk management and client solutions. The role is accountable for driving growth, sustainability and a competitive portfolio of insurance products.

Key responsibilities

• Formulate and implement business strategy, anticipating megatrends and complex challenges.
• Lead annual and long‑term business planning, aligning revenue targets, KPIs and resource budgets.
• Develop and oversee financial policies, guidelines and protocols to ensure regulatory compliance.
• Set and communicate the organisation’s mission, vision and values, inspiring a diverse workforce.
• Design and deliver the company’s risk management and control strategies.
• Lead the creation of policies, procedures and guidelines in line with corporate frameworks and legal requirements.
• Develop and maintain senior executive relationships with strategic corporate accounts, managing acquisition and retention.
• Monitor and report on business performance, ensuring accountability for results.
