Instrumentation Technician

About the role

Nestlé Zimbabwe is seeking an Instrumentation Technician to join its Harare manufacturing plant. You will ensure the reliable operation of instrumentation, control systems and related equipment, supporting continuous production and a safe working environment.

Key responsibilities

• Perform planned maintenance and preventive inspections on plant machinery and instrumentation.
• Calibrate all factory instruments and verify accuracy against standards.
• Troubleshoot and repair instrumentation, electrical and automation faults.
• Assist with installation, setup and commissioning of new equipment.
• Maintain detailed maintenance records, work orders and equipment history.
• Manage spare‑part inventory and ensure required tools are available.
• Coordinate maintenance activities with production to minimise downtime.
• Provide technical guidance to production staff on equipment operation.

Required profile

• National Diploma or equivalent in instrumentation, electrical or related field.
• Class One Instrumentation and Control Systems Journeyman Card.
• Minimum two years of experience as an instrumentation or control technician in an industrial setting.
• Strong knowledge of electrical, instrumentation and automation systems.
• Ability to read technical manuals, blueprints and schematics.
• Familiarity with safety regulations and maintenance best practices.

Required skills

• PLC programming – Rockwell Automation (RS Logix 5000, Studio 5000).
• VFD configuration – Rockwell PowerFlex 525 and 755.
• Instrument calibration and maintenance.
