ESG & Sustainability Officer

About the role

The ESG & Sustainability Officer will join ZB Financial Holdings' Group Strategy team to embed sustainability principles across the organisation. This senior role drives the Group’s ESG agenda, strengthens stakeholder confidence and supports long‑term strategic objectives.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, review and enhance sustainability policies, frameworks and programmes in line with regulatory requirements and international ESG standards.
• Lead implementation of sustainability initiatives that boost corporate reputation, brand equity and long‑term value creation.
• Oversee ESG & Sustainability standards, guide renewal of SSCI certification and support other units seeking sustainability certifications.
• Coordinate materiality assessments, climate‑related risk assessments and integrate ESG risks into the enterprise risk management framework.
• Design and maintain sustainability risk management frameworks, monitoring tools and reporting mechanisms.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual ESG disclosures, ensuring alignment with reporting standards and stakeholder expectations.
• Manage relationships with external consultants, development partners and assurance providers.
• Embed sustainability principles into employee onboarding, training programmes and people development processes.
• Build and maintain strategic relationships with regulators, NGOs, development finance institutions, suppliers, customers and industry bodies.
• Monitor emerging ESG trends, regulatory developments and best practices.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Sustainability, Environmental Science, Sustainable Finance, Economics or a related field.
• Professional certification in ESG, GRI, ISO Sustainability Standards or similar is an advantage.
• Minimum five years of relevant experience in ESG, sustainability, risk management or strategy.
