Strategic Content Manager – Africa

About the role

The Strategic Content Manager will lead Africa‑wide storytelling, shaping content that aligns with regional priorities, conservation goals, and brand standards. Based in Harare, you will own the editorial vision, develop a yearly roadmap, and ensure a steady flow of high‑impact stories across multiple audiences.

Key responsibilities

• Define and execute the Africa content strategy, setting editorial standards, voice, tone, and governance.
• Lead content planning, creating an annual storytelling roadmap with priority themes and audience targets.
• Research, source, and craft compelling narratives from landscapes, communities, Indigenous Peoples, scientists, donors, partners, and staff.
• Produce long‑form articles, case studies, donor stories, scripts, blogs, and impact reports.
• Oversee multimedia projects—video, photography, audio, and digital assets—by developing briefs and collaborating with creative partners.
• Travel to field sites for reporting, interviews, and content production.
• Maintain a curated library of approved stories and visual assets.
• Monitor audience insights and analytics to evaluate effectiveness and refine storytelling approaches.
• Provide editorial guidance and support to colleagues across the Africa region.

Required profile

• Proven experience in content strategy, editorial leadership, or storytelling for conservation, philanthropy, or related sectors.
• Strong ability to translate complex scientific and technical information into clear, engaging narratives.
• Excellent writing, editing, and interview skills with a commitment to ethical, inclusive storytelling.
• Experience managing multimedia projects and coordinating with photographers, videographers, and designers.
• Willingness to travel frequently across African field sites.
