Junior Legal Counsel

About the role

Huawei Technologies Zimbabwe is seeking a Junior Legal Counsel to support its legal department in contract management, regulatory compliance and dispute resolution. The role will work closely with business teams to identify legal risks and provide practical advice.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct legal reviews of contracts, support bidding, tendering and contract negotiations, and identify basic legal risks.
• Perform legal research on relevant laws, regulations, policies and cases, and prepare research notes or internal memoranda.
• Manage disputes and cases involving customers, suppliers, partners and employees, safeguarding the company’s rights and interests.
• Oversee custody, inventory and proper use of the company seal to prevent loss or unauthorized use.
• Ensure signatory authorisation aligns with group policy and prevent unauthorised signatories.
• Ensure corporate governance compliance with applicable Acts and respond to enquiries from authorities.
• Support external counsel management, prepare documents, assist in legal training material preparation and collaborate with the legal team on other matters.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Law and qualification as a Legal Practitioner in Zimbabwe.
• Minimum of 3 years of legal work experience, preferably with contract review exposure.
• Solid understanding of contract law, company law and commercial legal matters.
• Strong legal research, drafting and communication abilities.
• Business‑oriented, reliable, eager to learn and capable of working under supervision with excellent written and verbal reporting skills.
