Student Development Assistant – University Campus

About the role

Midlands State University is looking for a motivated Student Development Assistant to support the Student Affairs team on its Kwekwe and Zvishavane campuses. The role focuses on enhancing student engagement, wellbeing, and co‑curricular experiences.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the Student Development Officer in delivering student engagement and support programmes.
• Provide advisory guidance for out‑of‑classroom activities and student clubs.
• Support the planning and administration of campus events, including transport, accommodation, risk assessments and supervision for student trips.
• Maintain accurate records for regalia, equipment and logistics used in student activities.
• Coordinate reporting, documentation and follow‑up on student development initiatives.

Required profile

• First degree in Business Studies, Social Sciences or a related field.
• Minimum two years post‑qualification experience in a university or tertiary‑institution Student Affairs setting.
• Demonstrated experience coordinating student programmes, leadership development, clubs or extracurricular activities.
• Ability to work effectively with students from diverse backgrounds and promote inclusion and wellbeing.
• Strong communication, interpersonal and stakeholder‑engagement abilities.
