Senior Library Assistant – Zvishavane Campus

About the role
Midlands State University is seeking a Senior Library Assistant to manage circulation services at its Zvishavane campus. The role supports students, faculty and community members by ensuring smooth library operations and access to resources.
Key responsibilities
- Oversee all transactions at the circulation desk, including charging and discharging books using the Library Management System.
- Assist users in searching and retrieving items via the Online Public Access Catalogue.
- Guide patrons to locate materials on the open shelves and within core collections.
- Participate in regular stock‑taking and collection development activities.
- Support student orientation programmes and community engagement initiatives.
- Perform day, weekend and night circulation duties as required.
- Be available for deployment to any university campus.
Required profile
- National Diploma in Library & Information Science.
- Five Ordinary Level subjects, including English Language.
- Minimum two years of experience as a Senior Library Assistant in a university library.
Required skills
- Proficiency with a Library Management System (LMS) for circulation tasks.
- Ability to use the Online Public Access Catalogue (OPAC) effectively.
