Research Assistant – Water Resources (Full‑time)

About the role

The Tugwi Mukosi Multidisciplinary Research Institute at Midlands State University is seeking a full‑time Research Assistant focused on water‑related projects. The successful candidate will support ongoing research, contribute to data‑driven analyses, and assist in preparing scientific outputs.

Key responsibilities

• Collect, enter, clean and manage research data and databases.
• Conduct literature searches, review and summarise relevant publications.
• Perform data analysis and prepare reports, presentations and manuscript drafts.
• Support field and laboratory work, including equipment maintenance and sample preparation.
• Handle project correspondence, monitor budgets and attend project meetings.
• Draft grant proposals to secure funding for research activities.
• Undertake any additional tasks required for the Institute’s research programmes.

Required profile

• First degree in Water Resources Management or Land and Water Resources Management with at least a 2.1 classification.
• Minimum three years of postgraduate experience in a research environment.
