Part‑Time Volleyball & Chess Coach (University)

About the role

Midlands State University is seeking enthusiastic part‑time coaches to lead its volleyball programme at the Gweru campus and its chess programme at the Harare campus. The successful candidates will be responsible for developing student athletes, planning training sessions and fostering a competitive yet supportive environment.

Key responsibilities

• Design and deliver comprehensive coaching programmes aligned with university objectives.
• Organise and supervise training sessions, fixtures and match‑day activities.
• Implement high‑performance standards, game strategies and performance reviews.
• Manage team budgets and maintain accurate records.
• Collaborate with the Student Affairs Division and report on progress.

Required profile

• Relevant coaching qualification or a recommendation from the appropriate sports association.
• Minimum of one year coaching experience with youth or adult athletes.
• Strong leadership, communication and conflict‑resolution abilities.
• Ability to work independently under pressure and as part of a team.

Required skills

• Coaching certification in volleyball or chess.
