Park Manager – Protected Area Director

About the role

Defend is seeking a senior Park Manager (Protected Area Director) to lead the operation of Chizarira National Park in Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe. This full‑time, on‑site position will drive the park’s strategic direction, operational performance, financial control and stakeholder relationships.

Key responsibilities

• Report to the Chizarira Conservation Trust board and develop/implement strategic and operational plans.
• Oversee all park divisions – Field, Logistics, Engineering and supporting sections such as Research, Digital Operations, Procurement and Maintenance.
• Ensure effective law‑enforcement, community outreach, tourism and infrastructure management.
• Maintain strong financial controls, budgeting and discipline across the organisation.
• Coordinate closely with the Zimbabwe Parks and Wildlife Management Authority (ZimParks) to protect project integrity.

Required profile

• Proven senior leadership experience in protected‑area or wildlife‑conservation management.
• Ability to manage complex operations, drive performance and secure long‑term conservation outcomes.
• Legal right to work in Zimbabwe (or eligible for immigration support).
