Mining Learning Officer

About the role

The Mining Learning Officer will lead the design, delivery and supervision of technical and operational training for underground mining staff at Valterra Platinum’s Shurugwi operation. This role ensures that learning programmes meet competency standards, legal requirements and the company’s safety and sustainability objectives.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct operational competency training, assessments and audits for underground mining personnel.
• Implement and supervise technical skills development programmes, including MBL and FBL training.
• Maintain and audit training materials to ensure high quality and alignment with the Skills Development strategy.
• Administer learning systems, ensure compliance with legal, company and national regulations.
• Coordinate structured learnership initiatives and monitor risk factors affecting production.
• Apply safety, health and environmental standards consistently across all training activities.

Required profile

• Diploma or degree in Mining or an equivalent qualification.
• Holder of a full blasting licence.
• Minimum five years’ experience in underground mining operations.
• Ability to deliver technical skills training, including MBL and FBL modules.
• Clean Class 4 driver’s licence.
