Graduate Trainee – International Relations & Partnerships

About the role
The International Relations Unit at Midlands State University is looking for a motivated graduate trainee to support internationalisation, partnership development and international student services. The role combines administrative assistance, digital content creation and event coordination over a fixed‑term of 24 months.
Key responsibilities
- Provide administrative and logistical support for international student programmes, including orientation, welfare and exchange activities.
- Assist with correspondence, record‑keeping and follow‑up for MOUs, MOAs and partnership agreements.
- Monitor and report on partnership engagement metrics and support liaison with embassies and international organisations.
- Design and produce visual assets such as flyers, social media graphics, newsletters, banners and presentation materials.
- Develop and manage content for the unit’s website, social media channels and email communications.
- Coordinate cultural events, webinars and related communications before and after each event.
Required profile
- Bachelor’s degree (minimum 2:1) in International Relations, International Business, Political Science, Communications, Graphic Design, Multimedia or a related field.
- Graduated within the last two years.
- Relevant certifications in digital content creation, graphic design, video editing or social media management are an advantage.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Strong interpersonal abilities for working with culturally diverse stakeholders.
- Highly organised, adaptable and able to manage multiple tasks.
Required skills
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel for partnership data management.
- Proficiency with graphic design tools such as Adobe Creative Suite or Canva.
