GIS Analyst

About the role

The GIS Analyst will support IFAW’s Rescue and Conservation programs by collecting, managing, and analysing geospatial data. Working on a hybrid schedule, the role combines field data collection, map production, and database maintenance to ensure spatial information is accurate, organized, and readily accessible.

Key responsibilities

• Collect, validate, and consolidate spatial and attribute data from field teams, partners, and stakeholders.
• Support GPS and mobile‑based data collection using EarthRanger, SMART, and Survey123.
• Maintain and update organisational and partner geodatabases, adhering to metadata standards.
• Produce high‑quality maps, cartographic layouts, and geospatial products for reporting and decision‑making.
• Perform geospatial analyses and spatial modelling under senior guidance.
• Assist with remote‑sensing, imagery interpretation, and spatial monitoring activities.
• Create and enhance Web GIS applications, interactive maps, dashboards, and StoryMaps.
• Provide technical GIS support and capacity‑building to project teams and partners.
• Document workflows, SOPs, and contribute to the development of data‑management standards.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Geographic Information Systems or a related field (preferred).
• At least two years of experience in GIS, spatial data management, and geospatial analysis.
• Experience with field data collection and stakeholder collaboration.
