Freelance Xhosa Subtitling Linguist

About the role

Pixelogic Media Partners, a global provider of content localization services, is seeking a freelance Xhosa Subtitling Linguist to support its growing demand for Xhosa‑English subtitle production. The role involves translating, transcribing, and quality‑checking subtitle files for a variety of media clients, working on a flexible schedule to meet tight delivery deadlines.

Key responsibilities

• Transcribe and/or translate Xhosa‑to‑English subtitle files using Pixelogic’s cloud‑based subtitling platform
• Proofread and quality‑check subtitles, applying client style guides and in‑house glossary for consistency
• Handle rejections and make necessary corrections to ensure accurate final deliverables
• Stay up‑to‑date with industry trends and adapt to evolving client requirements
• Maintain confidentiality of all sensitive content

Required profile

• Bilingual in Xhosa and English
• Minimum 1 year of translation and/or proofreading experience
• Subtitling experience is a plus
• Strong attention to detail and ability to meet rigorous schedules
• Flexibility to work varying hours to accommodate delivery timelines

Required skills

• Proficiency with cloud‑based subtitling software
• Use of glossary tools for terminology consistency
