Financial Accountant – Life Assurance

About the role

ZB Life Assurance Limited is seeking a results‑driven Financial Accountant to support its financial reporting, regulatory compliance, and strategic financial management functions. The role will be central to delivering accurate financial statements and insightful analysis for senior leadership.

Key responsibilities

• Manage the General Ledger, perform monthly reconciliations and prepare audit files.
• Prepare monthly management accounts, financial reports and variance analyses.
• Produce quarterly Board Packs and regulatory returns for IPEC.
• Compile half‑year and year‑end consolidation packs and statutory financial statements.
• Coordinate internal and external audits and resolve audit issues promptly.
• Handle supplier, tax and regulatory payments.
• Support budgeting, forecasting and financial planning processes.
• Monitor daily cash flows and provide actionable financial insights.
• Conduct financial and competitive analysis, benchmarking and performance reporting.
• Oversee fund accounting, portfolio reconciliations and agent financial workflows.
• Provide financial advice to support business decision‑making.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or a related field.
• Professional qualification such as ACCA, CIMA, CIS or ICAZ (advantageous).
• Minimum 3 years of relevant experience, preferably in life assurance or financial services.
• At least 1 year of supervisory or managerial experience.
• Strong analytical, financial reporting and stakeholder management abilities.
• Good knowledge of accounting standards, financial regulations and regulatory reporting.
