Ambulance Technician – 2 Positions

About the role
Midlands State University is seeking two qualified Ambulance Technicians to join its emergency medical services team. The role involves providing pre‑hospital care, transporting patients safely, and supporting medical staff during emergencies.
Key responsibilities
- Drive an ambulance and transport sick, injured or convalescing individuals.
- Load and secure patients on stretchers, assisting with patient handling.
- Administer first aid, including bandaging, splinting, oxygen therapy and basic life support.
- Escort patients to hospitals and ensure safe hand‑over to medical facilities.
- Maintain ambulance equipment and ensure all medical devices are in good working order.
Required profile
- Class 2 or Class 4 driver’s licence.
- Valid Defensive Driving certificate.
- Ambulance Technician certificate with a current practising certificate registered with AHPCZ.
- First Aid and CPR certification.
- Minimum five O‑levels, including English, Mathematics and Science.
- At least three years of experience as an Emergency Medical Technician.
- Knowledge of radio transmission codes is an advantage.
