About the role

Midlands State University is seeking qualified academics for two senior positions within its Department of Peace and Security Studies at the Harare campus. The roles range from Lecturer to Professor and involve teaching, research, and university service.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver lectures and facilitate learning in modules such as Research Methods, Terrorism and De‑Radicalisation, Civil‑Military Relations, Human Rights and Sustainable Development, and Gender, Security Sector and Multi‑Dimensional Peace Operations.
• Supervise undergraduate and postgraduate research projects.
• Participate in departmental, faculty and university committees, workshops, conferences and seminars.
• Conduct active research and publish findings in the field of peace, human rights or war studies.
• Contribute to innovation and the commercialisation of research outcomes.

Required profile

• First degree (minimum 2:1) in Peace Studies, Human Rights or War Studies.
• Master’s degree in a related discipline; a PhD is an advantage.
• At least two years of teaching experience at the tertiary level.
• Minimum of two relevant publications.
• Ability to supervise student research and teach the listed modules.

Required skills

• Subject‑matter expertise in peace, security, human rights or conflict studies.
