Sub-Librarian – Library Client Services

About the role

The Sub-Librarian coordinates the Client Services ecosystem of the Main Library and reports to the Deputy Librarian for Academic Support and Operations. The role supports teaching, learning, research, innovation and community engagement by delivering specialised information and resource services to staff and students.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in developing, implementing and reviewing library policies, SOPs and quality manuals.
• Support collection development, acquisition and weeding of physical and electronic resources aligned with the curriculum.
• Provide high‑level reference and research assistance to staff and students.
• Design and deliver information‑literacy workshops, reference‑management training and guidance on copyright and academic integrity.
• Supervise day‑to‑day operations of the Client Services Section, including circulation desk and interlibrary loans.
• Identify, recommend and implement emerging library technologies and electronic resource management systems.
• Manage operational risks and ensure compliance with internal standards.

Required profile

• Master’s Degree in Library and Information Science (or equivalent) plus an undergraduate degree in the same field.
• At least three years of post‑qualification experience in a university library at Assistant Librarian or Senior Assistant Librarian level.
• Understanding of Education 5.0 philosophy and its application to library services.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal and presentation abilities.
• Strong supervisory, leadership and conflict‑resolution skills.
