Lecturer Position – Mathematics & Statistics (Zvishavane, Zimbabwe)

About the role

We are seeking a Lecturer to join our academic team in Zvishavane, Zimbabwe. The role involves delivering undergraduate and postgraduate courses in quantitative subjects, conducting research, and supervising student work‑related learning.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver lectures and tutorials in at least three of the following areas: Mathematical Finance, Survival Models, Machine Learning, Stochastic Processes, Spatial Statistics, Bayesian Statistics.
• Design course materials, assessments and practical sessions.
• Supervise and assess students on work‑related learning projects.
• Conduct research and publish findings in relevant fields.
• Participate in departmental meetings and academic committees.

Required profile

• Honours degree (minimum 2:1) in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics or a related discipline.
• Master’s degree in Statistics or a related field (preferred).
• PhD or active pursuit of a PhD in a relevant area is an advantage.
• Demonstrated ability to teach quantitative subjects at higher education level.

Required skills

• Proficiency in at least two statistical/mathematical software packages such as R, Python, Mathematica/Maple, or Stata.
• Strong analytical and quantitative skills.
• Ability to develop and deliver curriculum content.
