Humanitarian Specialist – Harare, Zimbabwe

About the role

We are seeking a dedicated Humanitarian Specialist to lead and support relief initiatives in Harare. The role involves assessing community needs, designing project frameworks, and ensuring effective delivery of aid in line with global humanitarian standards.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive needs assessments to identify priority intervention areas.
• Design and implement project frameworks that align with organizational goals and humanitarian standards.
• Coordinate logistics and resource allocation for timely delivery of relief supplies and services.
• Build and maintain collaborative relationships with government bodies, NGOs, and community leaders.
• Monitor and evaluate projects to ensure compliance with safety, ethical, and donor requirements.
• Prepare detailed progress reports for internal and external stakeholders.
• Lead capacity‑building workshops for local staff and volunteers to enhance community resilience.

Required profile

• 2–5 years of professional experience in the humanitarian or development sector.
• Proven ability to manage complex field operations and lead cross‑functional teams.
• In‑depth knowledge of humanitarian principles, emergency response protocols, and project management methodologies.
• Strong analytical capability to interpret data and develop actionable strategies.
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills for engaging diverse cultural groups.
• Flexibility and resilience to work in dynamic environments, including travel to remote areas.
• Relevant degree in International Relations, Social Work, Development Studies, or a related field.
