GIS Analyst – Geospatial Data & Mapping

About the role

The organization is seeking a GIS Analyst to support geospatial data collection, management and visualization across its conservation landscapes in Harare. The role will involve working closely with field teams, partners and senior GIS staff to ensure high‑quality spatial information underpins project implementation and reporting.

Key responsibilities

• Collect, validate and consolidate spatial and attribute data from field teams, implementing partners and other stakeholders.
• Support GPS and mobile‑based data collection initiatives using platforms such as EarthRanger, SMART and Survey123.
• Maintain and update organizational and partner geodatabases, ensuring data integrity, consistency and adherence to metadata standards.
• Perform data digitization, cleaning, verification and quality‑assurance processes.
• Produce high‑quality maps, cartographic layouts and other geospatial products for reporting and decision‑making.
• Conduct geospatial analyses and spatial modelling under senior GIS guidance to support conservation and landscape management.
• Assist with remote‑sensing, imagery interpretation and spatial monitoring activities.
• Create, maintain and enhance Web GIS applications, interactive maps, dashboards and ArcGIS StoryMaps for internal and external audiences.
• Provide technical GIS and data‑management support to project teams and partners, building capacity for spatial data workflows.
• Document GIS workflows, standard operating procedures and contribute to the development of spatial data‑management standards.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) or a related field (preferred).
• At least two years of professional experience in GIS, spatial data management and geospatial analysis (relevant internships may be considered).
