Communications Assistant – Digital & Social Media

About the role

The Communications Assistant will support World Vision Zimbabwe’s overall communications strategy, focusing on digital and social media channels. You will help create and distribute high‑quality content that showcases the impact of the organization’s work with vulnerable children.

Key responsibilities

• Design digital‑ready assets using Canva, Adobe Express or similar tools.
• Create and edit content such as flyers, newsletters, blogs, press releases, infographics and videos.
• Grow and maintain the organization’s presence on Facebook, X (Twitter), LinkedIn and YouTube with engaging, on‑brand posts.
• Produce innovative visual summaries of key reports for social media.
• Ensure a consistent brand voice across all communications.
• Collect, compile and publish impact stories on internal and external platforms.
• Maintain the communications and CRM database; support campaign implementation and track performance metrics.
• Assist with event logistics, media briefings and internal events.
• Generate monthly analytics dashboards with actionable insights.
• Update website content, troubleshoot minor technical issues and ensure SEO‑optimized pages.

Required profile

• A degree in Media Studies, Journalism or a related field.
• Strong written communication skills and a passion for storytelling.
• Experience in content development within the development sector is an advantage.
• High attention to detail and ability to work under pressure.

Required skills

• Canva and Adobe Express (or Adobe Suite) for design.
• Proficiency with social media platforms: Facebook, X, LinkedIn, YouTube.
• Photography and videography.
• WordPress or similar content management systems.
• CRM tools such as Mailchimp, Salesforce or HubSpot.
• Basic analytics and reporting skills.
