Business Intelligence Developer

About the role

Old Mutual is seeking a Business Intelligence Developer to design, build and maintain BI solutions that support finance and insurance processes. The role focuses on creating intuitive dashboards, data models and reports that enable data‑driven decision‑making across finance, actuarial and executive teams.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement Power BI (or equivalent) dashboards presenting financial metrics, KPIs and analytical insights.
• Collaborate with data engineering to define and optimise ETL pipelines, ensuring accurate and timely data refreshes.
• Develop and maintain robust data models (star/snowflake schemas) for efficient querying and performance.
• Create ad‑hoc and standardized reports for regular finance cycles, regulatory reporting and management insights.
• Engage with finance stakeholders to gather requirements, provide training and support, and incorporate feedback.
• Monitor report performance, identify bottlenecks and optimise dataset structures, queries and calculations.
• Participate in agile ceremonies and contribute to continuous improvement of the BI landscape.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Finance or a related field.
• 3+ years of hands‑on experience in BI development, data visualisation or reporting.
• Experience in financial services or insurance analytics is preferred.

Required skills

• Power BI (or Tableau, Qlik) with strong DAX and dashboard design capabilities.
• Advanced SQL for data querying and transformation.
• Data modelling and data‑warehousing concepts (star/snowflake schemas).
• ETL tools such as SSIS or Azure Data Factory.
