Communications Officer – Youth Development Exchange

About the role

The Communications Officer will join YETT’s Programs Department and work closely with the Research, Advocacy, and Knowledge team. The role focuses on strengthening internal and external communications, storytelling, and visibility for the regional exchange program.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement communication and advocacy campaigns on inclusion and access in higher education.
• Coordinate capacity‑building workshops and mentorship for network partners on communications, storytelling, and creative advocacy.
• Produce and edit high‑quality communication products such as press releases, articles, social media content, radio scripts, newsletters, podcasts and multimedia materials.
• Document program outcomes and success stories for donor reports and external publications.
• Manage content planning and scheduling across YETT’s channels, including website updates, social media and newsletters.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Media Studies, Communications or a related discipline.
• Minimum 2 years proven experience in communications.
• Applicants must be between 18‑30 years old.
• Familiarity with the non‑profit or development sector and Southern African higher‑education policy is advantageous.

Required skills

• Social media and design savvy.
• Strong writing and editing abilities.
