Communications Assistant – Harare, Zimbabwe

About the role

The UNFPA Country Office in Harare is looking for a Communications Assistant to support the development and implementation of its Communications and Visibility Plan. This entry‑level position offers hands‑on experience in public relations, content creation, and event support within an international development context.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in drafting the Communications and Visibility Plan, including monitoring and evaluation components.
• Contribute to UNFPA and project‑specific communications and public‑relations plans.
• Write tweets, blog posts, stories, project updates, reports, factsheets and flyers.
• Support graphic design of documents and knowledge products.
• Take photographs, shoot and edit videos of activities and events.
• Coordinate communication and visibility activities with UNFPA management, project staff, UN partners and the UNDP communications team.
• Disseminate communications and visibility materials.
• Maintain and update communication archives and files.
• Provide logistical and programme support for events, including venue arrangements, media invitations and documentation.

Required profile

• Candidate must be a Zimbabwean national, legal resident, or hold refugee status in Zimbabwe.
• No prior professional experience required.
