Building Manager – Harare

About the role

The Building Manager will be responsible for the overall operation, maintenance, and safety of a commercial property in Harare. You will oversee all facilities, coordinate with contractors, and ensure a high standard of service for tenants.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct regular building inspections and ensure all equipment and services are functional.
• Manage plumbing issues, including leaks, blocked drains, toilets, sumps, and gutters.
• Monitor and maintain electrical and mechanical systems such as lifts, air‑conditioning, generators, lighting, boreholes, and fountains.
• Oversee structural and carpentry repairs for walls, roofs, doors, windows, floors, and parking areas.
• Supervise security contractors, guard attendance, fire safety, and emergency evacuation procedures.
• Coordinate cleaning and hygiene services for public areas, toilets, basements, and car parks.
• Monitor landscaping contractors to keep gardens and grounds attractive.
• Build positive tenant relationships, address facility concerns, and conduct regular tenant visits.
• Supervise all contractors, verify attendance, quality of work, and maintain accurate maintenance records.
• Prepare periodic reports, manage inventory, track consumables, assist with rent collection, and ensure compliance with company policies.

Required profile

• Proven experience in facilities or building management.
• Strong organizational and supervisory skills.
• Ability to coordinate multiple contractors and service providers.
• Good communication skills for tenant interaction.
• Knowledge of occupational safety and health standards.
