Civils Clerk of Work

About the role

The Civils Clerk of Work will oversee civil works and projects at Unki Mines, including the maintenance of Impali housing estates and the operation of water and sewer treatment plants. You will ensure that all work meets required standards, specifications and schedules while supporting the mine’s safety and sustainability goals.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver effective maintenance services to prescribed standards and procedures.
• Provide quality assurance, compliance and safety oversight during projects and construction.
• Lead operations of sewer and water treatment plants.
• Monitor the quality of facilities, estate maintenance, roads and related infrastructure.
• Advise the site Civil Engineer and Section Engineer on risks and opportunities.
• Control critical monitoring of dams and mineral residue facilities.
• Supervise plumbers, carpenters, builders and plant attendants.
• Monitor and control cost and quality of civil maintenance work.
• Apply and maintain safety, health and environment principles for the mine.

Required profile

• Diploma in Civil Engineering or apprenticeship‑trained Class 1 Artisan in copper‑smithing and plumbing.
• 10 years experience as a foreman, clerk of works or site supervisor.
• At least 5 years managing sewer and water treatment plants.
• Basic computer literacy.
• Five Ordinary Level passes.
• Clean Class 4 driver’s licence.
• Relevant certifications (e.g., Water Resources Management, Water Treatment Technologies, Solid/Wastewater Management) are an advantage.
